Donations and Contributions

The Railway and Locomotive Historical Society, Southern California Chapter (also referred to as "R&LHS-SCC" or "we" or "our") educates the public about railroad history through our programs, operates RailGiants Train Museum at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds in Pomona, California, and owns most of the railroad equipment, structures, equipment, and archives at RailGiants.

The Railway and Locomotive Historical Society, Southern California Chapter is a Public Benefit Corporation created pursuant to the laws of the State of California. R&LHS-SCC is a tax-exempt nonprofit charitable educational organization, qualified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) pursuant to Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code.

You may make donations to further the charitable purposes of The Railway and Locomotive Historical Society, Southern California Chapter. Your charitable contributions are deductible on your federal and state income tax returns, subject to general limitations applicable to your personal circumstances. Please consult your tax adviser.

How to Donate

R&LHS-SCC gratefully appreciates all donations. You may donate in the following ways:
  • Donate using PayPal online for any amount of your choice between $5.00 and $100.00 is US Dollars. We do not accept requests for return of donations. We consider all donations as a gift, not a purchase. We do not provide 'thank you' gifts to our donors and contributors. We pay fees collected by PayPal for your donation's transaction.


  • Deposit anonymous donations of coin and/or currency in canisters located throughout RailGiants Train Museum.

  • Operational expenses.
We gratefully appreciate all donations. You may donate in the following ways:
  • Deposit anonymous donations of coin and/or currency in canisters located throughout RailGiants Train Museum.

  • When purchasing items in our RailGiants Store, tell us we can, "keep the change."

  • Hand your donation of cash, coin, or materials to any staff member while at RailGiants Train Museum. We will provide you a receipt for your records, except for donations provided anonymously.

How R&LHS-SCC Uses Funds and Physical Items Received by Donation

General donations of cash support R&LHS-SCC and RailGiants Train Museum in one or more of the following ways, at our sole discretion:
  • Operations and educational programs of RailGiants Train Museum and R&LHS-SCC

  • Maintenance, repair, restoration, and acquisition of structures, facilities, and railroad equipment and rollingstock

  • Maintenance and acquisition of railroad archives, artifacts, memorabilia, and related materials

  • Investments
Donations of sizable cash amounts can be restricted to certain purposes, upon mutual agreement.

We use donated supplies, railroad equipment, tools, and historical documents, subject to our discretion. Donated physical items may be accessioned or disposed pursuant to R&LHS-SCC's policies.
